Utrecht University is seeking highly-motivated scientists (3 PhD and 3 Postdoc openings) with a background in structural biology (NMR) and lipid biochemistry to work on structure-activity studies of antibiotics. Successful applicants will become part of a team of talented researchers at Utrecht University.
Several mechanistic insights on antibiotics came out of the lab (Shukla et al., Nature 2022), (Shukla et al., Cell 2023), (Jekhmane/Derks et al., Nature Microbiology 2024). Over the recent years they have developed a powerful integrative biology approach to gauge the mechanisms of antibiotics that act on bacterial envelopes, and work together with leading drug discovery groups and industry.
For the postdoc positions, they especially seek candidates with strong solid-state NMR background (including from material science/quadrupolar NMR). The Utrecht NMR Group hosts world-class equipment, including a 1200 MHz NMR magnet, 800 MHz DNP, and many more high field magnets (900, 2 x 700, 2 x 600). They also have state of the art probes for fast MAS, 19F ssNMR, and low-gamma nuclei involved in projects.
PhD positions are for 4 years.
Postdoc positions have flexible durations (to be discussed).
Please apply via the links below. Application deadline is April 23.
