I am pleased to announce the opening of a fully funded 3-year PhD position in membrane biophysics in the Membrane Transport Laboratory at the Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Pavia (Italy).
This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the structural biology of ion channels and transporters. Our laboratory focuses on the biophysical mechanisms underlying ion channel and transporter function, with particular attention to proteins involved in pathological conditions.
The project will focus on the biophysical validation and structural characterisation of human membrane transporters. The selected candidate will employ a broad range of methodologies, including molecular biology, biochemistry, electrophysiology, ligand-binding assays, and cell biology.
Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for membrane protein expression, purification, and crystallisation. In addition, we have continuous access to the campus core facility for cryo-EM, which includes a complete pipeline for grid preparation and data collection on a Glacios 200 kV cryo-electron microscope.
